Private consultations/ Home visits in North London

Sometimes going to a support group just doesn't feel right. You may not feel up to it physically or emotionally. Or you may simply want the focused thorough attention that a longer session at home with a qualified lactation consultant can give you.
If the difficulty is related to the baby's latching and positioning, it can be particularly valuable to have someone observe you feed in your normal surroundings. Issues like the height of a chair, the pillows you use, where you put your feet, can make a remarkable difference.

A lot of mothers I support are suffering from sore or damaged nipples and help with positioning and attachment is a regular focus. However I am trained to cover a wide range of problems and challenges. From the family with a premature baby in the early days of breastfeeding or pre-breastfeeding to the family weaning at the end of a breastfeeding experience. From the mother concerned about insufficient milk supply and dealing with underlying health problems or a history of breast surgery to the mother struggling with an oversupply of milk and an excessively fast flow. I am also experienced in supporting families with twins and supporting mothers to re-lactate.

As an IBCLC, I work tirelessly to support each family to reach their breastfeeding goals using my wide range of knowledge and practical experience. A session may require my technical knowledge of breast and nipple problems and infant physiology or perhaps we may work together as a team to help you find solutions to parenting struggles such as family sleep, changing relationships or the return to work. You are welcome to chat to me first before committing to arranging a private session.

I am also enthusiastic about baby-wearing and I'm very happy to support you to find ways to incorporate slings and carriers into your parenting experience. I have spoken at two national conference on the benefits and practicalities of babywearing.

A session of approximately 90 minutes costs £60. After this, we can settle on a pricing structure that we are both happy with. You may want more than one session. If you are on a low-income, I am happy to discuss different pricing with you.

You may also find it helpful to arrange a session antenatally where we can discuss your expectations for breastfeeding or discuss and debrief any previous breastfeeding experiences. An antenatal meeting and a follow-up support session once the baby is born would cost £90.
